Diamond Pet Foods has always been a family owned and privately held company. Diamond Pet Foods also happen to be one of the leading manufacturers of pet food in the nation, with a complete range of proprietary and private label products that Diamond Pet Foods manufacture in five, state-of-the-art and safety-certified facilities across the country.

HISTORY
Diamond Pet Foods began in 1970 with a shared vision. The founders, brothers-in-law Gary Schell and Richard Kampeter, believed that premium pet food could be produced at an affordable price. Together, Diamond Pet Foods purchased a former milling company in the town of Meta, Missouri (population 220), and the Diamond company was born.
Soon, nutrition-conscious pet owners Diamond Pet Foods is validating Gary and Richard’s theory and buying Diamond Pet Foods products. The plant in Meta was modernized with state-of-the-art equipment, and Diamond Pet Foods expanded the production capacity in order to meet the growing demand with plants in Lathrop, California in 1999; Gaston, South Carolina in 2003; Ripon, California in 2012; and Dumas, Arkansas in 2016.
Today, Diamond Pet Foods remains one of the fastest growing pet food manufacturers in the country. The products are trusted by professional breeders, trainers, veterinarians and pet owners in all 50 states and in 100 countries around the world. The second generation of Schell and Kampeter families still own and operate the company. And Diamond Pet Foods still believe that every pet is worthy of the best nutrition. Including yours.

In order to provide both ingredients of exceptional quality and products that are affordable, Diamond Pet Foods has developed unique relationships with the suppliers. Being privately held, Diamond Pet Foods can look beyond short-term, quarterly shareholder results and enter into long-term agreements with the vendors. These long-term arrangements with the vendor-partners have led to preferred pricing, vendor loyalty, and a steady supply of quality ingredients for Diamond.
